1 Sep 2005 - Keeping in Touch - NATURE NOTES

It was one of those barmy brilliant days; no clouds to be seen and a brilliant blue sky ? and warm sunshine covered Fryent Country Park. Everywhere was green and beautiful, and as you walked up the hill by the 'horse grazing' you were enveloped by butterflies; mostly Meadow Browns. It seemed like one of those days from years gone by. But this was June 2005 in the London Borough of Brent, and only eight miles from Oxford Circus.

Other butterflies seen on this wonderful day were whites, skippers, and a Red Admiral ? and along the Access Path another wonderful sight - on the purple thistles were dozens of Burnet moths with their red spotted green wings. That morning people stopped and marvelled at nature at its best.

A few months earlier - on the 27th March - we had the pleasure of discovering a slow-worm residing under some rubbish.
